Another demo on location at Avalanche Ranch.  I started this one by wetting the paper – I actually took a butcher tray along and dipped the painting in water so it was well saturated.  Painting outside and especially in a dry climate like Colorado, your paper is going to dry pretty fast.  So I immediately started laying in juicy paint and worked pretty rapidly to get the soft effect I wanted.  As the paper began to dry, I could take my time putting in the details.  I worked on a quarter sheet size 11″ x 15″.
